When quizzed on possible interest from Real Madrid, the Liverpool replied that he has no thoughts of moving away from Merseyside: "I'm very happy in Liverpool and I have another three years left on my contract".

Mane, 26, joined the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League finalists in 2016 from Southampton for a reported €41m (R640m) transfer fee and has developed into one of their key members of the first XI.

The Senegal global scored in last month's Champions League defeat to the Spanish club and speculation nearly immediately suggested he was a target for them - before Zinedine Zidane's shock resignation.

Senegal meanwhile begin their campaign in Russian Federation against Poland on Tuesday 19 June with the issue of Mane's club future like to be put to bed for the time being.

"But you never know what will happen in the future".

He added: "As I said, I'm happy in Liverpool. The whole club worked hard for this Champions League title, but Real Madrid were the better team that day", he said.

Mane struck 20 goals and laid on nine assists in all competitions last season and enters the World Cup as the undisputed star of the Senegalese team who will be hopeful of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition. The defeat is ticked off. Now it is time to play with Senegal a good and successful World Cup. "That's my whole focus".
