Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri: 'I rejected offer from Real Madrid'

Real Madrid stun football world with unveiling of Zidane's replacement

Zidane kicks back as France heads to World Cup 2018

Juventus manager Max Allegri has revealed that he received job offers from both Real Madrid and Chelsea, but chose to remain in charge of The Old Lady.

"Let's say that the decision to stay at Juventus had already been taken, while thanking the ones who sought me out", he said.

"I have always liked Juventus' plans, which are renewed every year with the aim of always winning".

"Following Real Madrid's decision to appoint Julen Lopetegui as their new coach, Massimiliano Allegri has spoken to Sky about the club's interest in appointing him: "[Madrid president] Florentino Perez called me, I spoke with him one time". It was only fair that I stay where I am because it was a decision which I had already made; I had to respect which I had said to the club's directors without considering anything else.

Allegri also hinted that he had been contacted by Chelsea regarding the possibility of replacing Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.

Although Tuesday's surprise announcement has since backfired on Lopetegui who was then sent packing by Spain today (Wednesday) on the eve of the 2018 World Cup.

Last month, Zidane resigned from his post just five days after guiding Madrid to a third consecutive Champions League crown, bringing an end to a short but extremely successful two-and-a-half-year spell.

They say Lopetegui, who was sacked by Spain yesterday just 24 hours before the start of the World Cup, is a huge admirer of the midfield maestro.

"I thanked Florentino for the offer but said I couldn't accept it out of the respect I owed to Juventus".
