De Niro has attacked President Trump on previous occasions, describing him in 2016 as "blatantly stupid", "totally nuts" and an "idiot".

"I'm going to probably have to move there", De Niro joked on the day of the result.

Robert De Niro speaks onstage during the National Board of Review annual awards gala at Cipriani 42nd St, Jan. 9, 2018, in New York City. "It's no longer 'Down with Trump, ' it's 'F-k Trump'".

The awards were broadcast live on CBS but the network had enough time to bleep out the Godfather actor's f-bombs. It's fuck Trump. In these perilous times, you rock the vote, always fighting for truth, transparency and integrity in government.

De Niro continued the streak for a third month in a row when he said in a speech in LA: 'A college education is important, but education without humanity is ignorance. (Pictured at the 2005 Tribeca Film Festival).

His tweet comes in response to De Niro's speech at the Tony Awards on Sunday, in which the Oscar victor simply said "fuck Trump" to a room of cheering people.

"Celebrities saying stuff like that about Trump is exactly what Trump talks about to his base and they go, "Yeah, I'm sick of these Hollywood elites being like that" - do they not put that together?" he asked. "Wake up Punchy!" Trump wrote Wednesday morning, or Tuesday afternoon ET. On Monday, the actor apologized to Canadians for the "idiotic behavior of my president".

"It's a disgrace. And I apologise to Justin Trudeau and the other people at the G7".
