The trailer gives a pretty good look into what the new season will entail, but what is particularly interesting is that the trailer seems to barely focus on Cage at all but instead places heavy focus on the villains of the season, Mariah Dillard and Bushmaster.
Now, with just 10 days to go before the second series bows, the streaming service has ratcheted up the anticipation with a new trailer that dropped on Tuesday. In keeping with the show's embrace of classic hip-hop, the clip features the Fugees track "Ready or Not" and offers up the notion that "black women have always had superpowers". It needs a queen. As she enlists her daughter in the family business, Mariah must battle a formidable foe in John "Bushmaster" McIver (Mustafa Shakir), who vows to take what's hers.
After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can't save.
Mike Colter returns as the titular Luke Cage, with Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi as Shades and Finn Jones as Danny Rand aka Iron Fist.
I was pretty mixed on Luke Cage after watching the entirety of the first season - though that first half that featured Mahershala Ali was fan-flipping-tastic.
