First Look: WONDER WOMAN 1984 - Steve Trevor Returns

Trevor, of course, sacrificed himself during World War I in 2017's Wonder Woman.

Warner celebrating the start of production on "Wonder Woman 1984" by debuting two first look photos from the highly anticipated superhero sequel.

We certainly didn't know that her human love, Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), would be making an appearance - unaged and seemingly whole.

We knew that Patty Jenkins-helmed sequel to Wonder Woman, newly announced as Wonder Woman 1984, was going to be set in the 1980s. And this doesn't appear to be some sort of hallucination or flashback, as Trevor is looking confused as all get-up in what appears to be a mall. In addition to Gadot and Pine, the sequel's cast includes Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig in the role of the super-villain The Cheetah. Returning director Patty Jenkins co-wrote the script with Geoff Johns (who contributed to the original film's story).

Jenkins has pretty much reunited most of her behind-the-scenes team from Wonder Woman, including director of photography Matthew Jensen, production designer Aline Bonetto, and costume designer Lindy Hemming. Oscar-nominated editor Richard Pearson (United 93) will cut the film. Filming is taking place in Washington, D.C., Alexandria, Virginia, and in the UK, Spain, and the Canary Islands.

The following contains a spoiler for Wonder Woman if you haven't seen it yet.

Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled to be released in theaters November 1, 2019.
