The simple math-24 more non competitive seats are held by Democrats than are held by Republicans-and the Republicans have 69 more seats at risk in competitive districts than Democrats-suggests that the Democrats are well positioned to secure the net gain of 23 seats they need to secure a narrow 218 to 217 majority in the November 2018 mid-term elections.

The state's tightest House race is in the 10th district, which includes part of Northern Virginia. But the 10 also heavily favored Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, voting for the Democrat by almost 10 points.

Primary elections do not generally draw a large pool of voters. The incumbent, Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), has been severely wounded politically by the two-and-a-half years he was under indictment on public corruption charges.

Clinton touts Giunchigliani, who faces a Democratic primary in Nevada against fellow Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak on Tuesday, as "an extraordinary progressive leader" and "a governor that you can be proud of" in the robocall. But an influx of Latinos and other blue-leaning voters since then has given Democrats a lead of 97,325 registered voters as of May compared with a Republican lead of 3,250 registered voters in 1998, according to Nevada secretary of state data. A recorded message from Clinton asks voters to cast their ballots for Giunchigliani in Tuesday's election.

Two years ago, LuAnn Bennett became the first 10th District Democrat to win in Loudoun since 1978, but only by 150 votes.

President Donald Trump is weighing in at the 11th hour on a key Congressional primary in SC - and he's doing it in a pretty shocking way.

In the wake of the 2016 election of President Donald J. Trump-and the controversies, scandal and investigations that have embroiled the White House and Congress since-Democrats have surged to run for office, including at one time as many as 11 candidates for the seat.

Virginia Republicans also will choose a challenger to Democratic Senator Tim Kaine, the 2016 vice presidential candidate, whose re-election appears relatively safe.

"A review of the Governor's submission highlights that it is a partisan endeavor, clearly drawn exclusively to favor Democrats".

She adds: "She will be a governor that you can be proud of".

With both party primaries set for Tuesday, strong Democratic candidates are expected to emerge to challenge almost every major statewide office now held by Nevada Republicans, offering Democrats their best shot in years to seize political control over the state.

Unlike the General Election in November, where the victor represents their district in the Virginia General Assembly or U.S. Congress, the victor of Tuesday's primary election only becomes their party's representative in the upcoming general election.

Heller narrowly won his seat in 2012 against Democrat Shelley Berkley, who was hampered by ethics questions.
