China has become receptive to Indian films, given the popularity of movies by Aamir Khan.
The film not only managed to earn $3.55 million on Saturday but also rose to the number 1 spot at the Chinese box office on the second day of its release. He tweeted: "Market for well-made content-driven Indian films continues to bloom in China".
The release of Akshay Kumar starrer is bigger than Hindi Medium, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and in the same range as Secret Superstar but it has failed to beat any of these films as far as opening day is concerned. The movie has been renamed Toilet Hero for Chinese audiences and has received critical acclaim for its message of sanitation. Akshay Kumar who is making his debut at the China box office has surely carved a memorable first attempt in the hearts of the people over there.
