This year Sony, who makes the Playstation, chose to open their conference with a trailer for the hotly anticipated game "The Last Of Us 2".
The trailer opens on a makeshift dance hall, where the game's protagonist, a teenaged girl named Ellie, is watching people sway to the music. The extended trailer shows both gameplay and thematic scenes. That didn't last long though: the trailer then cut off to her brutally stabbing a guy in the neck.
E3 is a massive annual videogames conference where companies show off trailers for their upcoming games. A previously unseen character speaks with Ellie at the event and presumably references Joel when he says, "Your old man laid into me today". Before introducing Last of Us Part II, we were introduced to game composer Gustavo Santaolalla, who humbly walked onto stage with a hoodie and a simple banjo. Hopefully, it's not too far off - it's nearly been two years since the game was first announced. "We've completely overhauled our engine, developed new combat mechanics, created a new analogue stealth system, and revamped our animation system to fully express Ellie's desperation, resourcefulness, and unique agility", director Neil Druckmann wrote.
