For others like John Colwell, who served in Vietnam and buried his parents at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Memorial Day weekend is especially emotional.
Early Monday morning, flags will be placed at veterans' graves at Laurel Hill Cemetery and Peaceful Rest Cemetery.
On Memorial Day this year, 230,000 American flags will mark the graves of fallen military personnel at Arlington National Cemetery. "They deserve to be remembered and appreciated", he commented.
