Bill Gates: Trump twice asked me the difference between HIV and HPV

Bill Gates says Donald Trump didn't know what HIV was

Yesterday, one of the most intelligent men in the world, Bill Gates, detailed an encounter with the POTUS.

Among other anecdotes, Gates is seen telling an audience about how, in both of his meetings with Trump, the president asked if there's a difference between HIV and HPV. "Melinda [Gates's wife] didn't like that too well". "And then like 20 minutes later he flew in in a helicopter to the same place", Gates said. "So clearly he had been driven away but he wanted to make a grand entrance in a helicopter".

"I'll take his framework and explain why things like health security and continued foreign aid, even in that narrow framework, where you give no credit for saving lives in Africa, kind of pure humanitarian things, even without that, this is money well spent", Gates told the outlet.

That was not all. "His first sentence kind of threw me off, [Trump] said: 'Trump hears that you don't like what Trump's doing.' And I thought, 'Wow..." But you're Trump?' So I didn't know if the third-party form was what was expected.

Gates is a critic of Trump's policies, but did, indeed, meet twice with the president: once in March 2017, and again in the March 2018. "I didn't put him to the test, whether that was a serious thing or not". Gates said he told Trump not to chase such conspiracy theories and embrace science and innovation instead.

Bill Gates discloses in newly revealed footage that President TrumpDonald John TrumpGiuliani says Federal Bureau of Investigation may have placed spy in Trump campaign Giuliani: There is "nothing illegal about looking for dirt on political opponents" Giuliani: If Mueller subpoenas us, we will challenge it MORE twice asked him to clarify the difference between HIV and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). "So I was able to explain that those were rarely confused with each other". At this point the audience burst out laughing. In April, Gates said that Trump offered him a role as White House science advisor, which he declined, saying that it was "not a good use of my time". Tara Dowdell, Democratic strategist, told the MSNBC host: "We're looking at a president that doesn't know the difference between HIV and HPV but he has memorised Bill Gates' daughter's appearance".

Donald Trump claims to be a lot of things.
