Pitt set for prime time

PSU-Pitt set for prime time

Penn State and Pittsburgh will renew their rivalry at night on Sept. 8

The first game time of the 2018 Penn State Football season presented by PSECU finds the Nittany Lions visiting Pittsburgh for an ABC Saturday Night Football game on September 8. The Keystone Classic presented by Peoples Natural Gas will kick at 8 p.m. and air on ABC. The Panthers won, 42-39, in 2016 at Heinz Field.

College GameDay has covered Pitt games twice. The Nittany Lions are scheduled for a night game on Friday, Sept. 21, at IL, with game time to be announced. The rivalry series will end in Beaver Stadium in 2019, and Penn State Athletic Director Sandy Barbour said last week a renewal likely won't be revisited until some point after 2030.

ABC announced the first three games of its 2018 Saturday Night Football package, selecting Penn State-Pitt for a national prime-time broadcast September 8.

This will be the third contest in the current four-game series between the teams. It will be the first of at least two night games for Penn State on its 2018 schedule.
