Woman Prof held for 'luring' students, TN Guv orders probe

Members of All India Democratic Women Association along with students staged a sit-in protest in front of the college pressing the college authorities to file a police complaint on the incident that happened in mid-March. The Assistant Professor Nirmala Devi has been taken into custody by the police.

An audio clip of an mathematics professor from Tamil Nadu persuading her students to undertake an "assignment" for the university's high-ranking officials has gone viral.

Governor Banwarilal Purohit, the Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University to which the college is affiliated, set up a "high powered inquiry" committee to look into "certain immoral" happenings surrounding the lecturer. They are expecting college students for successfully completing an important assignment.
