Real Madrid have somehow survived a remarkable Juventus comeback to progress into the Semi-Finals of the Champions League.

Juve had clawed back a three-goal first-leg deficit at the Bernabeu and it looked as if the game was heading into extra-time until Lucas Vazquez was fouled by Medhi Benatia in the box.

Juventus goalkeeper Giannluigi Buffon was then sent off for remonstrating with the English referee, which led to protests from his teammates.

"We suffered and this will help us to learn. What happened at the end of the game won't change or take anything away from what he has done in the game", Zidane told his press conference after the tie in Madrid.

The confrontationsaw Chiellini claiming that Madrid's players had bought the referee (as he already had said on the pitch) and other members of the team confronting the match officials and members of the Spanish side.

Similar to what happened to Barcelona on Tuesday night, Madrid almost got eliminated from the tournament after conceding three goals at the Santiago Bernabeu but for the timely intervention of Portuguese forward who scored a penalty to push the team through.

Ronaldo made no mistake from the spot, and Los Blancos earned a 4-3 aggregate win to make their way into the Champions League semi-finals.

Blaise Matuidi added a third on the hour mark after a goalkeeping clanger from Real's Keylor Navas.

"He's a magnificent player and this perhaps wasn't his last Champions League appearance". Despite this, the 33-year-old got his opportunity to make the difference right at the end, after calmly slotting in the match-winning penalty in the 97th minute.

Despite the drama which surrounds the referee decisions to award a late penalty, the 33-year-old appeared to nearly mentally vacate the area.
