The Cadillac Escalade has long dominated the Lincoln Navigator on the sales charts, but that's no longer the case following the Navigator's most recent redesign. That's about on par with the Cadillac Escalade. However, that changed with the all-new Navigator for the 2018 model year. Demand for the Navigator has skyrocketed 63 percent year-over-year, although the Escalade still significantly outsells its Lincoln rival.
That amount is available to current lessees of 2016 Escalades who move into a new one, while owners of the same model year SUV are eligible for $7,500, according to a memo obtained by Bloomberg News that was confirmed by a General Motors spokesman, who said the company is trying to "keep people in the family". The segment is known for prices that can reach six figures, which give both automakers the ability to offer discounts while still keeping the vehicles profitable. "You've got a fresh Navigator and you've got an Escalade that is not new, and is starting to age".
This isn't the first time that Cadillac has tried to throw out some extra cash to battle the Navigator. That's the discount GM's luxury brand is offering certain owners as an incentive to take home a new 2018 Escalade SUV. In the end, it'll be great for consumers.
