Apple Music's Head Of Hip Hop Programming Carl Chery Leaving For Spotify

Spotify Will Unveil a Revamped Mobile App Week

Carl Chery, the Head of Artist Curation for genres like hip hop and R&B, has chose to leave the tech giant in favor of Spotify. Sources say that Chery might become a curator of Spotify's popular RapCaviar playlist.

Carl Chery's reportedly leaving his position at Apple Music, Variety reports. This person is no other than the Head of Artist Curation for hip hop, Carl Chery.

This is the second high-profile departure from Apple Music in a week. Basa has now joined YouTube, which is believed to be preparing to launch its own music streaming service, called Remix. It comes at an interesting time as Apple Music recently announced the new lead for Apple Music as Oliver Schusser. Similar to the Google Home, or Apple HomePod, such a device from Spotify is said to do basic tasks such as set timers, but most importantly will be able to play music through Spotify through voice recognition.

Also, the player would have a 4G connection integrated and free but that can only be used to play music streaming from the service.

Spotify will be announcing news about changes in its mobile app at an event next week, according to an invite the company sent out.

Spotify will be holding a press event in New York City on April 24 and it promised to make "a news announcement". Therefore, this is a serious blow for Apple Music.
