The first Shenmue originally released on the Dreamcast in 1999, with the sequel Shenmue II dropping in 2001 for Japan and 2002 for North America. It has also been revealed that lots of graphical improvements will be making their way into these Shenmue games, but bear in mind that they will not be full on HD remakes or remasters.
Shenmue is a tale of retribution as Ryo Hazuki seeks out to avenge his father's death and attempts to unravel the secrets behind a mysterious artifact known as the Dragon Mirror. Sega is describing the re-release as the "definitive version" and promises the "best Shenmue experience to date".
The two games are acclaimed open world action adventures that combine jujitsu combat, investigative sleuthing, RPG elements, and memorable mini-games.
Sega has confirmed that the re-released games will 'stay true to the originals with modernised features including fully scalable screen resolution, choice of modern or classic control schemes, PC graphics options, an updated user interface and the option to enjoy either the original Japanese or English voiceovers.
Shenmue I & II are available for pre-order from the first-party retailer with pre-orders opening on Steam and other USA and EMEA retailers soon.
