The Witchwood is Hearthstone's next expansion, adds a new single-player mode

Hearthstone: The Witchwood expansion will have a Dungeon Run-style 'Monster Hunt' mode

Hearthstone: 6 new cards from the new 'Witchwood' expansion

Ben Brode and company provide more details on the gameplay implications of the new cards in the Blair Witch-style video above, adding to a delightful collection of very odd Hearthstone trailers.

The Echo keyword, when shown in a card allows you to add a spectral copy of this card to your hand until the end of your turn, which can be played any number of times if you have the mana for it.

The Witchwood is now available for pre-purchase on Blizzard's store for $49.99 and comes with 70 decks filled with new cards.

Blizzard have confirmed the first expansion for Hearthstone's Year of the Raven.

Ben Brode has also announced A new Shaman Hero Card, "Hagatha", which will be the only one in the expansion. Themed around the haunted city of Gilneas, players will be able to acquire 135 brand new cards in order to fight off the spirits of the Witchwood. This means that, if a player has a 3-mana Echo minion on turn 9, that card can be played a total of three times.

While it's unclear whether this new mode will make use of the Dungeon Run's procedurally generated dungeon-building systems, Hearthstone's Lead Missions Designer Dave Kosak hinted at revisiting the format in an interview with Gaming Trend last month. Rush, much like Charge, lets a minion attack immediately, but only against other minions. At the start of the game, Genn Greymane-a neutral Legendary minion with 6/5 and costing 6 mana-will grant even-cost decks by decreasing the player's Hero Power to 1-mana instead of the standard 2. The Hero Power upgrade from Baku the Mooneater is the same as the one from Justicar Trueheart, as a post on Reddit reveals. "Monster Hunt will release two weeks after The Witchwood launches".

The expansion will also add a new Monster Hunt mode to the action, similar to Kobolds & Catacombs' Dungeon Run, that challenges players with a series of eight increasingly hard encounters leading into a big boss fight. Factors that could cause Blizzard Entertainment's actual future results to differ materially from those expressed in the forward-looking statements set forth in this release include unanticipated product delays and other factors identified in the risk factors sections of Activision Blizzard's most recent annual report on Form 10-K and any subsequent quarterly reports on Form 10-Q.
