The firmware 5.0 update would bring features including Youtube, full web browser, cloud storage, chat rooms, themes and more, shown off in a "leaked video". According to Netflix VP of device partnership Scott Mirer, the video was not the first priority for Nintendo during the launch.

Nintendo Switch might get a new system software update as it has been spotted by some fans that the update for the parental controls app for the Nintendo Switch now references to an upcoming firmware update that hasn't been released yet. Detailed in full on the Nintendo Support website, this update makes it easier to add Facebook and Twitter friends who are also Switch users, and introduces 24 new Arms and Kirby user icons to adopt as your favourite new avatar. To ensure privacy, the default way to enter your PIN for Parental Controls has also been changed, with the control stick now serving as the default method, rather than the on-screen keypad.

Using the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app, add specific software titles to your whitelist to exclude them from the console's Parental Controls Restricted Software setting. When a bedtime alarm is set, play will be restricted from the set time until 06:00 the following day. Nintendo apparently codes the color of the grip electronically inside the controller.

In order to use some of these features, you will need to update the Nintendo Switch system version to 5.0.0 or later. You can verify your current menu version and manually start the update from the System Settings menu if necessary.
