On the other hand, San Francisco was about as bad as expected with a 1-10 record through Week 12.

The NFL held a coin flip on Friday afternoon which determined the draft position of the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers, who both finished the season with 6-10 records and had the same strength of schedule.

While Oakland surely wanted the higher pick, these two teams will likely have different targets on draft day, which means the 49ers likely won't take the player the Raiders want.

As for the turn of events with the 43rd overall pick, it was a result of the 49ers, Raiders and Dolphins all finishing with 6-10 records last season. That's what led to the next tie-breaker between the Raiders and 49ers: a coin flip.

The Raiders will pick ahead of the 49ers in the second round.

That pick is now in the possession of the Patriots following the Jimmy Garoppolo trade. In their latest mock drafts, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks see the 49ers selecting Virginia Tech linebacker Tremaine Edmunds with their first pick of the draft, which takes place April 26-28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
