The cop then demanded the driver get out of the vehicle, to which the person behind wheel responded to by ramming the officer and speeding off all while the law enforcement official held on for numerous yards.

NYPD officer Ian Wallace was hit by a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG in Times Square on Saturday night at around 11:45pm, with the driver fleeing the scene after causing a lot of commotion on the street.

The Mercedes, which is an over $40,000 auto in its latest model, appears to have been initially stopped by the officer after burning-out their tires and smoking up the intersection with.

Dramatic video posted online appears to show the officer standing in front of the auto in an attempt to stop it when the vehicle suddenly takes off. The officer pulls his gun and is then quickly tossed to the pavement as the auto takes off.

The officer was carried on the hood of the auto before being dragged along the ground and left behind as the vehicle tore away (Twitter).

"That son just side-swiped all these cars", the video's unidentified narrator can be heard saying.

The officer, who has been with the department for four and a half years, was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital with minor injuries to his back and legs, but is expected to make a full recovery.

A source described him as "a courageous officer", adding: "He did the right thing".

There have been no arrests, and the investigation ongoing, police said.
