CES 2018: Google challenges Amazon with smart home offering

Ask the LG ThinQ WK9 and it'll play it on YouTube for you.

Google and Amazon are dominating the smart speaker market. But at least we know more about the LG WK9 Google Assistant touch screen speaker today than yesterday.

According to Panasonic, the integration will enable drivers to use Alexa to control their heating, media, navigation, and more. The company's sending a clear sign to Amazon that there are still contenders in the digital assistance space.

"We want to make sure that people have the broadest set of choices in terms of what kind of device they want that has Google Assistant".

Amazon's push into the home with Alexa is an aggressive move to secure domestic endpoints, which it desperately needs in order to catch up with Apple and Google's presence on iOS and Android devices. Alexa continued to have an edge over Assistant and other assistants this year at CES, and Google's show-held in a tent outdoors-got ruined by unexpected rain in Las Vegas. The Google Assistant recently pushed to LG's Smart Speakers.

"As we continue to evolve Android as a platform for consumers and across industries, leveraging the expertise from a partner like Panasonic allows us to deliver automotive-grade in-vehicle experiences", said Patrick Brady, VP of Android engineering at Google.

Users of the smart displays being unveiled by Google can not browse the Web or install apps as they would on a tablet, but the new gadgets are optimized for sound quality and listening to voice commands.

And Amazon is having considerable success in leveraging that position to get Alexa into third party products.

Furthermore, the smart displays are equipped with all the Google services' applications.

Battery Pack- Battery Pack or Power bank are utility accessories and they can charge multiple devices in a single charge.

Amazon did not immediately respond to a request to comment.

Well, that future is coming sooner than we think because come 2018 there will be more devices embedded with digital assistants powered by artificial intelligence (AI) from either Amazon's Alexa or Google's Assistant.

Erickson doesn't believe that the smart assistant race is a zero-sum game. After months of feeling like Google Home was much more capable than I gave it credit for, there's finally a place to go where you can actually search all it can do.
