Russian Federation probe investigators look at US President's Scottish golf clubs

Senators Grassley, Graham Refer Christopher Steele for Criminal Investigation | Chuck Grassley

Sen. Dianne Feinstein releases Fusion GPS transcript, escalating dispute with Republicans over Russia probe

The tweet came during the president's reported extended "executive time", additional time in the mornings and evenings when Trump tweets, makes calls and watches cable news.

He then said Feinstein, who is seeking another term, "Must have tough Primary!"

A January 2017 assessment by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) stated that Russian leadership preferred presidential candidate Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton, and that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally ordered an "influence campaign" to harm Clinton's electoral chances and "undermine public faith in the USA democratic process".

President Trump was not happy that Senator Dianne Feinstein released a Congressional transcript of an interview with Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson without authorization, claiming in a tweet that it may have even been illegal.

Since BuzzFeed posted the full Trump-Russia dossier one year ago, a number of intelligence experts have opined that, in this case, Mr. Steele - a former MI-6 officer posted to Moscow from 1990 to 1993 - failed to adhere to basic intelligence analysis standards of verification. Dianne Feinstein for releasing a transcript of testimony that was given during the investigation.

"The dossier is, and continues to be, the subject of active investigations by Congress and intelligence agencies", a BuzzFeed spokesperson said.

The evidence obtained by the investigation reportedly showed that contrary to statements by Grassley, Christopher Steele and Fusion GPS were trying to find out the truth about the Russian interference into the presidential election, and that Glenn Simpson was cooperative and truthful in his testimony. In addition to looking into whether members of the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation to tilt the election in his favor. special counsel Robert Mueller is also examining whether Trump sought to obstruct justice when he fired Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey last May.

Donald Trump has said it "seems unlikely" that he would give an interview in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into potential coordination between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

Several important questions, however, remain unanswered, and Simpson, Fusion GPS and Steele are not fully inoculated against some of the charges they've endured from allies of the White House and other critics.

"We get political up here pretty quick. and we'll fight among ourselves what oversight looks like" at every stage of the investigation, Judiciary Committee member Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., predicted, "as long as there is breath in us all". Shortly after, Feinstein released the transcript.

"My understanding was that they believed Chris at this point - that they believed Chris might be credible because they had other intelligence that indicated the same thing and one of those pieces of intelligence was a human source from inside the Trump organization". It's worth noting here that Feinstein says that Grassley didn't consult with her before referring Steele for investigation.

Cohen has testified before the House and Senate Committees over his alleged involvement in collusion, but did not say whether Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team interviewed him.
