Man dies due to early dismissal of Virat Kohli in Cape Town Test

After slumping to a moral-sapping 72-run defeat in the opening Test in Cape Town to go down 0-1 in the series, India will look to bounce back to keep themselves alive in the series.

A local police official told Hindustan Times that Babulal succumbed to his injures on Tuesday morning.

India captain Virat Kohli on Friday took a dig at critics questioning Ajinkya Rahane's exclusion in the first Test against South Africa, stating that those who wanted his deputy's omission are now clamouring for his comeback.

Set 208 for victory, India were bowled out for 135 in under 43 overs. Both teams showed batting fragility in Cape Town, with India's pace bowlers showing they too could take advantage of helpful conditions. India will however have an uphill task of winning this match and levelling the series. The bounce in South Africa is disconcerting to the batsmen, and, to make matters worse, the seaming ball posed questions at the Newlands. "Ultimately, especially in this series and for the rest of the summer, we will be looking to see how best we can fit four fast bowlers into whatever formula we come up with", he added.

Gavaskar said: "I think Shikhar Dhawan is the "Bali ka Bakra" (scapegoat)". Fast bowlers have been the leading wicket takers in Test matches for India outside the subcontinent, and their share of wickets has been the highest in the current decade. I expect them to take positives out of that game.

South Africa got off to a fine start in the second cricket Test against India, reaching 78/0 in their first innings till lunch on the first day at the SuperSport Park here on Saturday. If you pick four seamers, he can be in amongst them. The special feature of this practice session was that it did not include the players who played in the first Test.

"The only part where we were a little better than them was that we got a few more runs in the first innings".

India: Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (captain), Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Parthiv Patel, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul.

Earlier, the hosts made one change, handing a Test debut to 21-year-old pacer Lungi Ngidi at his home ground. If players fit in the kind of balance we want to go in with as a side then they will fit in.

Instead, the good bounce and lack of lateral movement might just play well for batsmen on both sides. "He is probably been our most consistent and solid player away from home", the skipper said.

The new ball bowlers failed to create any chances, and Ishant Sharma (0-12) came on as first-change in the 8th over.
