Baylor coach Matt Rhule reportedly interviewed for Colts job

Matt Rhule interviewed with the Colts for the head coaching position vacated by the departure of Chuck Pagano

Report: Baylor's Matt Rhule interviewed with Colts for head coaching gig

Looks like he'll be sticking it out.

"I can certainly tell everyone right now that Matt Rhule is our head football coach, is going to be our head football coach and is excited about being our head football coach", Rhoades said. They've quietly been building a nice recruiting class, now ranking as the No. 30 team for the 2018 cycle on Rivals.

The Baylor athletics department has not commented on the report.

But a very surprising candidate has surfaced, with ESPN's Adam Rittenberg reporting Wednesday night that the Colts interviewed Baylor head coach Matt Rhule earlier this week.

Rhule, 42, recently completed the first year of his seven-year contract at Baylor University, where the Bears finished with an abysmal 1-11 record.

Rapoport also reported Thursday Carolina defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, who was scheduled to meet with Ballard this week, has "no plans" to follow through with that interview because the team appears "more focused on offensive candidates". He was an assistant at Temple from 2006-2011, then became the program's head coach from 2013-2016. The NFL job has been open since the team fired Chuck Pagano in December after six years with the organization.
