Flight of the Conchords: HBO Sets Release Date for Cancelled Series Special

Flight of the Conchords Officially Returning for HBO Special

It's business time: Flight of the Conchords are coming back to TV!

The duo will perform classics and new original songs from their "Flight of the Conchords Sing Flight of the Conchords Tour".

The stars of the quirky HBO comedy Flight of the Conchords are returning for a one-hour special, the network announced on Thursday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

The original series also co-starred Rhys Darby (Wrecked) as the band's manager Murray and Kristen Schaal (The Last Man on Earth) as their devoted fan Mel.

The native New Zealanders originally made their HBO debut in 2005 on the half-hour comedy special One-Night Stand.

The upcoming special will apparently feature a selection of old Flight of the Conchords favourites, as well as new material. Two years later, they debuted their original series Flight of the Conchords, in which they played fictional versions of themselves. "Flight of the Conchords" earned ten Emmy nominations over its two-season run on HBO, while their album "The Distant Future" won Best Comedy Album at the 2008 Grammy Awards. Executive producers are Jemaine Clement, Bret McKenzie, and Mike Martinovich.
