An FIR has been lodged against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in connection with the statement she made against National Register of Citizens (NRC), during a public meeting held at Birbhum district.
The new logo contains the national emblem above a Bengali alphabet. Down the years, she has designed quite a few things such as Biswa Bangla logo, the umbrella logo for promoting various schemes and programmes of the state and flag for vehicles of IAS officers in Bengal. The logo, which has been designed by the CM herself has been and approved by the Centre on January 3, will be used on the letterheads of all official communication.
At the launch of the logo at Nabanna, the state secretariat, Ms Banerjee said, "It is a historic occasion". It was never thought that each and every state should have its own identity.
While neighbouring states like Bihar and Jharkhand already have separate emblems, West Bengal did not have one since its inception. As soon as we noticed this, we formed an expert committee and sent the proposal to the Government of India.
"Ever since Narendra Modi came to power, she has been making comments which hurt the spirit of the federal structure and her comments about the NRC amount to inciting violence", Vijayvargiya alleged.
In seeking an emblem for itself, West Bengal is following other states such as Bihar and Jharkhand, the chief minister said on Friday.
Special police teams have also been deployed at Mao Gate in Senapati district bordering Nagaland and the Tamei-Haflong road in Tamenglong district bordering Assam to check the entry of migrants into the State, the press release read. Accordingly, the logo is been used extensively by the state government in recent years, be in it advertisements across media platforms.
Showing some documents he claimed that Bishwa Bangla brand was registered in the name of Ms Banerjee's nephew and party's Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee. who sent him a legal notice.
