Overwatch's Winter Wonderland event returns December 12

It's the holiday season, and Overwatch is celebrating adequately. One such game is Overwatch, which will host its Winter Wonderland event for the second year in the row beginning next week. Just as the Halloween and Summer events both tweaked their existing limited time brawls, Winter Wonderland is introducing a new arcade mode entirely.

Overwatch's Jeff Kaplan is back to give a bit of information about next week's "Return to Winter Wonderland" holiday event. Roadhog and Junkrat are also getting new Legendary skins.

We'll keep you posted about skins and more.

While Winter Wonderland is a revival of last year's event, Blizzard is bringing some major new additions. The familiar 6v6 "Mei's Snowball Offensive" will return (also playable on the Black Forest map), but it will be joined by the brand-new "Mei's Yeti Hunt". Set on the Nepal map, Mei's Yeti Hunt does still focus on characters shooting each other - but there's a twist. Called "Mei's Yeti Hunt", this game mode will task five different Mei players with hunting down and defeating a Yeti, who just so happens to be Winston in his holiday skin.

Aside from cosmetics, Mei's Snowball Offensive will also return from a year ago, which pits two teams of Meis against each other in a snowball fight-style conflict. The big thing here is that a player will actually control the yeti, which is a powered up version of Winston. It's a race to see if the team of Meis wins, or the powerful Winston can smash them all.

"I know a lot of you are thinking it sounds kind of ridiculous and kind of silly, and I'm here to tell you it absolutely is", Kaplan said. Kaplan added that many of Overwatch's seasonal brawls are simply created to be fun, lighthearted and refreshing Arcade exercises that are available for a limited time.

Overwatch's Winter Wonderland returns next week on Tuesday.
