Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is getting some paid DLC next year, but this year we're getting some for free. It allows you to battle a friend on the same system (with two controllers or a pair of Joy-Cons), hand-pick three-hero squads and use every technique and trick from your sleeve to claim victory across special surprise-filled maps.
Interestingly, the mode disables the characters and builds you've unlocked and created in the main game, instead forcing you to pick from a number of pre-set builds for each fighter.
It's a much-needed addition to the excellent single-player antics of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, so if you've got some time tomorrow and want to spend some time on your Switch, you could do a lot worse than grabbing this free update. With only three actions per turn, you'll have to plan your moves carefully, as a character who leaves his position might not be able to return before the enemy team has a chance to strike. Nintendo's 2017 midas touch has also extended to an odd 3rd party collaboration with Ubisoft on Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. And just to be sure that things heat up near the end, there's the Showtime option, which kicks in as the match nears its end and turns regular items into super items, while also opening up new ways to get around the map, like pipes or trampolines. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will take advantage of the ability of Nintendo Switch to be played anywhere, anytime and is fully functioning on the go for both solo and co-op players.
