Those that are chosen for the program will get an over-the-air (OTA) update that will bring the version of the software to EMUI 8.0 version B323. The update began in China and as usual is a phased rollout, so it may take a little bit of time to reach other regions. Huaweiblog.de reports that the beta update seems to be only showing up for Mate 9 users with MHA-L29C432B194 firmware version right now.

Some important Android 8.0 Oreo features that can be expected include better Google Assistant integration, picture-in-picture (PIP), updated design elements, and battery optimization. The desktop mode, called Projection, is part of the update as well.

Since the Chinese ROM is slightly different from the global ROM (lack of Google apps and more) for these phones, it might take a few more days for the worldwide version to get the Android 8.0 update. As we have seen in the Huawei Mate 10 couple of months ago, the Huawei Mate 9 and Mte 9 Pro also have the man Artificial Intelligence powered features with the rolling out of the new batch of updates.

Huawei Mate 9 was launched back in November previous year, in case you don't manage to recall. Connectivity options on the smartphone include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4G LTE with VoLTE voice calling support, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.

The Huawei Mate 9 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a 5.5-inch curved flexible display with the resolution bumped up to 2K and the fingerprint placed on the front.
