Marcos Tavares opened the scoring for the home side after just ten minutes and Eduardo Berizzo's failed to execute a comeback.

Naby Keita was once again on the scoresheet for RB Leipzig as they bowed 2-1 at home to Besiktas in the Champions League. Sporting were unable to counter the favouritism of Barcelona, losing to two second-half goals in Spain, but overall Jorge Jesus's side gave a good account of themselves in a group containing the Spanish giants and Juventus - two teams with legitimate ambitions of winning the tournament - and Olympiakos.

Vincent Aboubakar struck two first-half goals to spearhead Porto's emphatic 5-2 win over Monaco at the Dragao Stadium on Wednesday and seal their place in the knockout stages. Besiktas were a much-changed side having already qualified as group winners.

The match was ten vs. ten for nearly one hour after Porto centre-back Felipe and Monaco's Rachid Ghezzal were sent off after getting into an ugly tussle in the first half.

The Cameroon worldwide scored a first-half brace to steer Sergio Conceicao's men to a 5-2 victory in the encounter.
