'I don't have a vast amount of talent': Ed Sheeran, 26, is honoured with an MBE at Buckingham Palace... but humble artist says he owes his success to 'persistence'

"He had all the commemorative plates and stuff, and he died on this day four years ago, so it's actually quite a nice full circle thing, I guess he'd be pretty proud", he said.

As well as snagging all the awards, breaking records left, right and centre and joining forces with Beyoncé, Ed's also got his eye on shutting down the next royal wedding, with a performance that is.

Now THAT would be a show.

Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, presented Sheeran with a medal representative of the honor.

The "Shape of You" singer was all smiles as he shook HRH's hand whilst collecting his MBE (short for Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).

Ed said that he hadn't been asked by Harry to perform at his wedding in May 2018, but when asked if he would do it, he replied: 'Yeah, why not'.

Speaking about his honor, Sheeran remained humble, saying he put it all down to "persistence".

The singer said the Prince of Wales was impressed by the fact that he is playing a gig in NY on Friday, one day after the investiture ceremony.

Ed Sheeran's latest album exploded when it was released in March this year and the following months have been an absolute whirlwind for the ginger singer.

Ultimately, Ed credits "persistence" with his sustained success.

He was the most-streamed artist of 2017 and has supported various good causes.

Double Grammy victor Ed, from Suffolk, remained modest about his achievements saying he didn't have "vast talent" compared to other artists but his "persistence, drive and self belief" had paid off.
