Hannibal Salvation Army kicks off Tree of Lights campaign

Through the Angel Tree program, individuals, families and businesses can "adopt" a child or senior citizen by purchasing items from their list of needs and requested gifts.

As the holiday season approaches and Christmas music begins to play, the Salvation Army's bell ringers will take up their posts in front of various stores to raise money for the organization.

Susie Chitwood, director of the Salvation Army Tifton Service Center, said that they want to get people signed up early this year, since the bell ringing starts in November.

The Salvation Army's Kettle Appeal was first launched in Barbados over 100 years ago.

The Salvation Army is accepting applications at their Toledo headquarters from 9:00 - 11:00 am and then again from 1:00 - 3:00 pm on Wednesday. Help us provide food, hydration, shelter and long-term assistance to our fellow Texans in need. The goal is 25 percent higher than last year's $800,000 target - which was not met, according to Springfield Business Journal reporting. "Be a part of something special by helping make a difference in the lives of so many this holiday season, and all year round".
