Rajasthan HC takes cognizance of incident of verbal spat, asks hospital to submit a report by 2 pm on Wednesday.

Confirming about the same, the hospital superintendent told a leading daily, "When the woman was admitted, the fetus was in distress".

The report says that the argument appeared to have started when Nainwal, the obstetrician, questioned whether the patient had eaten before the operation. The video further shows a nurse and another doctor trying to remind the quarrelling doctors that the surgery was on.

Doctors at Jodhpur's Umaid Hospital, which is considered to be the best in the region, nearly came to blows inside the operation theatre while a pregnant woman was being operated.

The whole incident was video recorded by another staff member who was present at the OT.

"'You stay within your aukat (limits)", Dr Nainwal, in green scrubs and surgery attire, is seen screaming at the anaesthetist. "We will probe the reason for the newborn's death", he said.

AL Bhat, principal of Sampurananda Medical college said that both the doctors were removed immediately from the duty and this is a disrespect of operation theater. The anaesthetist, Tak, reportedly tried to have a junior doctor carry out tests, which Nainwal didn't agree with.

He informed that both the doctors have been removed from their post.

Doctors are hailed as healers and protectors of lives, but two doctors at the Jodhpur Umaid Hospital put their personal enmities before the welfare of the patient, resulting in the death of a helpless newborn.
