Analysis: Jayson Tatum is the most NBA-ready scorer in the draft.

When asked about other prospects, Bilas said Jarrett Allen of Texas "is a good prospect" but is raw and his game needs developing; Louisville's Donovan Mitchell - "a$3 powerful athlete who can really defend".

"I have [in] the order Fultz, [Lonzo] Ball, [De'Aaron] Fox - De'Aaron has certainly created a buzz, not only because of his speed and the way he played this season, but he has a magnetic personality that at worst is going to sell a lot of shoes if he becomes a good player in the National Basketball Association", predicted Fraschilla. "A great work ethic, and his parents have done an awesome job of raising this young man".

Moments after being drafted, Tatum expressed how anxious he is to join the rest of Boston's versatile core, which is fresh off of a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Tatum is athletic and can get to the basket, but he's not particularly quick and doesn't have a great first step, which will hurt him against elite defenders at the next level.

Less than 24 hours after he was selected third overall in the NBA Draft, former Duke wing Jayson Tatum arrived in Boston with his mother by his side - carrying a lot of bags, it appears.

A McDonald's high school All-American and the Gatorade national player of the year, Tatum averaged 29.6 points and 9.1 rebounds during his senior season at Chaminade. The Suns, obviously, were thrilled to draft Jackson and it looks like they might have had a hand in swaying him away from Boston. That's the last time Dallas entered the draft with a top 10 pick.

If it was surprising to see the Celtics pass on Josh Jackson in Thursday night's NBA Draft, well, consider this: Danny Ainge was pissed. Boston selected Jaylen Brown with its first round pick in 2016. Whether or not Tatum remains with the Celtics is uncertain.

"Solid pick", said Benoit, who has a tattoo of a shamrock on his right biceps and Celtics mascot Lucky the Leprechaun on his left calf. "He's not a great shooter but he can make shots", said Bilas. "For me and my mom for everything we've been through and even for my Dad and everybody back home in St. Louis and the Duke family and everyone is happy for me". "I can't wait to go and learn from Coach (Brad) Stevens and Isaiah Thomas and just everybody on that roster".

He turned out to be correct.

But, as we've learned down on Route 1 in Foxboro, draft parties are overrated. After some laughs from the media, Ainge added, "That could get me in trouble there".

That won't preclude him from revisiting some of those discussions once free agency opens next month, though.

"No. No.no. Well, there were thoughts, yeah, I was mad", Ainge said. We saw way too many unproven worldwide players taken and the Chicago Bulls finally hit the reset button and blow up their roster, much to the dismay of their loyal fans.
